These concept illustrations were created for a children's book exploring themes of antenatal depression through metaphors of crystals and the cosmos. It was important to the author that the main character, the young child, was illustrated without an explicit gender. It was also important that the colour palette, while limited, captured the emotions of the mother throughout the stages of her pregnancy, evolving as the story unfolded.
